Sumo Champ Promoted
Beaming satisfaction at
his promotion to the ran of "ozeki" above is Haguroyama. Announcement of
the rankings were given out yesterday by the Japan Sumo Association. The
man will be next in rank in the Eastern Camp to the once invincible Futabayama
in the spring tournament which will open on Thursday, next week. Akinoumi,
the wrestler who first broke Futabayama's string of 69 odd victories last
year, has been raised to the rank of "sekiwake," just below that of "ozeki."
Akinoumi this year is in the Western Camp. He was given the biggest promotion
in this year's elevations.
