Futabayama Marries

Futabayama, 27, noted professional wrestler with the title of “yokozuna”, and Sumiko Koshiba, 22, niece of Dr. Takeo Watanabe, assistant professor in the department of science of Osaka Imperial University, were married on Saturday, April 29, at a wedding ceremony held at the Daijingu Shrine of Iidamachi, Kojimachi-ku, Tokyo, beginning at 5 p.m. Hideichi Noyori, noted magazine publisher, and Mrs. Noyori arranged their match.
Futabayama, the bridegroom, was accompanied by Chief Tachinami and more than 10 leading wrestlers of the Tachinami camp to which Futabayama belongs, while Miss Koshiba, the bride, was accompanied by Dr. Watanabe and Yoshi Koshiba, 63, her grandmother, at the ceremony.
The bride and bridegroom invited more than 200 prominent persons, including those from the sumo circles, to a wedding reception which they gave at the Tokyo Kaikan, Marunouchi, on the same day, beginning at 6 p.m.
In view of the fact that the summer sumo season is drawing near, the newlyweds decided immediately to settle down at their home in Kobiki-cho, Kyobashi-ku, Tokyo, giving up their honeymoon trip.
