Kawasaki To Become Sumo Man

    Shigeru Kawasaki, a 16 year old giant, standing 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 191 pounds, visited the Osaka Mainichi on Thursday, April 13, and announced that he was entering professional sumo as a member of the Dewanoumi “stable” within a few days.
    He was accompanied by Komazo Horita, adviser to the Professional Sumo Association.
    Kenjiro Segawa, chief of the enterprise department, and Tokuzo Tamaki, chief of the sports department, received the visitors.
    Kawasaki, son of a sake dealer at Kishiwada, Osaka prefecture, graduated from the Kishiwada middle school this spring. He has the rank of “nidan” in judo. He will go to Tokyo on Saturday, April 15, to begin training as a wrestler.
