Futabayama Received ¥5,000

    Grand Champion Futabayama received a bonus of ¥5,000 when the 13-day Sumo tournament in the Osaka Kokugikan Hall ended on March 20. The Japan Sumo Association announced Saturday morning how much income the wrestlers earned during the 13-day tournament in Osaka Kokugikan Hall.
    According to the announcement, the calculation basis for salary promotion is an increase of 25 sen for every first "net" victory won out of the total of 13 matches in one season. Besides, in the Osaka tournament, a bonus of ¥35 was given to every victory.
    Futabayama, who continued to win throughout the tournament in Osaka, therefore, was given a rise of ¥3.25 in salary, his former salary being ¥200, and received a bonus of ¥455 and furthermore received a big bonus of ¥5,000.
