The Champion Wrestler Adds Another Feather to His Cap

The betrothal of Futabayama, the Champion wrestler, to a rich heiress in Osaka is, one of the, most attractive topics of the day. Futabayama betrothal has caused such a sensation because he is good-looking and thought a peerless wrestler until the Winter season last month when he was unquestionably out of form and lost three matches. He was also through indifferent to all female charms. He has had many temptations and heard many a siren's call, for all wrestlers are popular with the gentle sex, especially with geisha, but he has never known to have been in love. Now it appears that he is as sound in his judgment in the matter of matrimony as in the ring contest. Instead of turning to the gay quarters for his life-mate, as many wrestlers do, he has picked a girl of impeachable respectability and much fortune. Few wrestlers demonstrated have demonstrated, as he has, how rapidly a successful wrestler may climb the ladder. In fact, professional wrestling is one of the shortest cuts to fame and fortune for young and muscular boys. Most of the number stay at the bottom rung of the ladder, always to be known as "loin-cloth carriers" until they finally pass out of the wrestling arena for good. They help others to gird their loins but never seem to be able to do the same with themselves.
