DEWAMINATO WINS HIS 10TH IN SUMO MEET

Defeats Haguroyama In Upset Bout; Minanogawa Victor

Dewaminato won his tenth straight victory Saturday in the 13-day Spring Sumo tournament at the Kokugikan bowl at Ryogoku by turning the tables over the strong Haguroyama. The only one still to be defeated  in the “makunouchi” or first ranking circle, he has a good chance of winning the tourney's championship. Today, he was to take on Tamanoumi, who already has beaten two grand champions, Futabayama and Minanogawa.
Minanogawa kept himself in the running for the title, but with one setback, Saturday by defeating Kasagiyama, former Waseda University student, after a torrid bout. So hard fought was the encounter that the referee allowed the two a minute's rest.
Futabayama outfought Kagamiiwa, veteran champion, in another bout that necessitated “mizu-iri” or a moment's breathing spell with time out.
Tamanoumi, the late Grand Champion Tamanishiki's ace pupil, won another sterling victory by vanquishing the strong Nayoroiwa, considered by many as a future grand champion.
