WEST LEADS EAST IN SUMO

Tochigiyama Only Wrestler To Remain Undefeated In Tournament

The standing of the wrestling clans up to yesterday disclose that while the East has won sixty victories the west has triumphed sixty four times. If the West continues to hold this lead for three more days it will get the wrestling pennant of the season.
Tochigiyama, the extra champion of the East, is the only sumotori who has so far been undefeated. next comes Nishinomiya, the extra champion of the West, with only one loss to mar his perfect record. Tsunenohana who was expected to show a clean slate of victories this season has been unfortunately sick since his defeat at the hands of Wakahitachi on the second day of the tournament. Ayanishiki is the holder of the worst record of both the East and West having lost all his contests save one which resulted in a draw.
The number of spectators at the Ryogoku stadium is steadily increasing. While many empty seats can be seen in the morning, the stadium is dotted with black spots late in the afternoon. Yesterday's wrestling lasted until eight o'clock in the evening due to three misunderstandings which arose during the program.
