Japanese wrestler dead
Tokio, July 22 (A.P.) Dewanoumi, the greatest Japanese wrestler of the Meiji era who made a tour of America when in his prime, died here this week from an infection of his hip joint which the doctors could not diagnose. Dewanoumi who was 48 years of age became a wrestler when eighteen and extra-champion when 29. He held the title for ten years retiring in 1914 when he was appointed manager of the wrestling association. His illness and death created a great sensation in Japan, extras being issued to report the progress of his illness, while the great crowds attended his funeral.
