Akutsugawa Breaks Record

Akutsugawa was again in the limelight on the fifth day, May 16, of the Tokyo Summer Sumo Season, for he defeated another popular wrestler of the West Side, Fukuyanagi, who had won fame in the past seasons and who is ranked higher than Akutsugawa himself. It was a case of simply pushing Fukuyanagi outside the ring with two strokes, so that the defeated wrestler fell to the ground.
Because of the extraordinary record of five glorious victories won by Akutsugawa, he is now to be put up against Onishiki, undefeated super-champion of the West Side, on May 17. It is an unprecedented event that a wrestler of so low a rank as Akutsugawa has been put up against two super-champions.
