COMING WRESTLING MATCHES

CLOSE CONTESTS ARE LIKELY TO BE SEEN

Now that the New Year wrestling matches at the Kokugi-kan Hall, Ryogoku, are drawing near, Tachiyama and his wrestling troupe will come back to town from their provincial itinerary. Tomotsuna, their manager, returned on Wednesday.
According to him, the troupe left Tokyo in June last and exhibited matches at almost all important cities and towns throughout Japan, its itinerary beginning in Hokkaido, including Aomori, Morioka, and Sendai, the chief cities in the north-eastern provinces, and turning to the western part of Japan, covering Otsu, Nara, Wakayama, and Osaka, and in Kyushu, Nagasaki, Sasebo, Kumamoto, Kokura and Kurume. Fully six months were spent in the journey, the net proceeds amounting to forty thousand yen.
Of the numerous wrestlers, none can equal Champion Tachiyama, although he was beaten once or twice during the last contests by Otori. As, however, Tachiyama, Onishiki, and Ayakawa as well as Otori have much improved in strength and science, the forthcoming New Year matches will be full of thrilling incidents.
