WRESTLERS POPULAR

ARE HAVING A GREAT TIME IN SAN FRANCISCO

The latest mail arriving by the Shinyo Maru brings many letters from the Japanese wrestlers visiting America. The wrestlers, who are visiting America for the first time, seem to be enjoying a good time. The wrestling opened on August 26, when the wrestlers, boarding six automobiles, decorated with American and Japanese flags, paraded through the streets and after visiting the Japanese tea house in Golden Gate park went to a theatre, when the matches began at 7 p.m. The house was crowded two hours before the opening of the programme. The time-honoured ceremony "dohyo-iri" was a special object of approval to the curious spectators, who welcomed the performance with enthusiastic cheers. The performances are a great success, daily attracting a big audience, mostly consisting of Japanese residents.
The impressions of America are one and the same. Champion Umegatani, writing to his family, expresses his surprise at the cold weather of San Francisco, which he likens to the temperature in August in Japan. Another champion wrestler Chinzeiyama was taken by surprise at the big size of buildings and the countless number of automobiles. He was taken aback at the number marked on the automobiles, mentioning that he sighted a car marked "No. 15,000."
