Japanese Wrestlers Say Farewell and Leave for Orient
The Wind-up
CHAMP PUSHES RIVAL AROUND.

Japanese Title Holder has no Trouble.

Little Cherry Blossom is Badly Smeared.

Big, Fat Fellow Rubs Mud Over His Face.

Champions come and champions go, and one of 'em went yesterday. Nishinoumi, champion of one of the Japanese wresting squads and rival for first honors, was unceremoniously booted out of the ring by the 425-pound Umegatani.
The championship match, which wound up the four days of exhibition wrestling, was the tamest affair of the whole bunch. The heroes were both too large to put up a very peppy fight, and speed was an unknown quantity. The big boys moved around the ring with a sort of stately majesty and spent most of the time resting in clinches. Finally Umegatani gave an awful shove and knocked his rival flat on the ground.
Edozakura, otherwise known own as Cherry Blossom, was more picked on yesterday than ever before. This young man was almost ruined in Monday's contests but he still retained some degree of pep and this was completely kicked out yesterday. He is now a total wreck and a fit candidate for a hospital.
His first bout was with Tunenohana, a gentleman about five times larger than himself. The men mixed things up in nifty style and soon began to fight in real earnest. They slapped each other a few times and pulled hair and knocked a couple of teeth out. Then Tunenohana thought of a clever stunt.
He picked up a handful of dirt and carefully added a little water. He mixed the two together and secured a soft mud hall about two inches in diameter. Then he walked to the center of the circle and planted the pill neatly on Cherry Blossom's face. Three-quarter of the thing went down the victim's throat and the rest of it trickled from his hair to his feet.
Strange to say, war was not declared. Edozakura washed his face and went peacefully on with the fight. His spirit was evidently broken.
Chakagatake defeated Koshitachi with such ease that it started a fight. A very excited fan rushed onto the platform and demanded that the contest be fought over. Neither of the contestants felt like doing this, but the enthusiastic gent insisted. So the Vernon Constable was summoned and he had to put the restive fan clear out of the arena to restore order.
The semi-annual championship meet is held in Japan some time in January and all the wrestlers are compelled to be present. Umegatani, who has already retired from the ring, will tender his official resignation at that time, and will turn over the title belt to a future winner.
