JAPANESE WRESTLERS
LOOKING FORWARD TO AMERICAN TRIP
For the first time a party of picked Japanese wrestlers
will leave Japan for America for purely business purposes. The party consists
of nearly forty wrestlers, including manager, clerks, etc., and will start
from Yokohama on board the Shinyo Maru on the 7th.
The coming of the party has been widely heralded
across the Pacific and the Japanese on the other side are eagerly waiting
for its arrival, for this will be a record event in the sporting circles
among the Japanese abroad. Some years ago, Champion Hitachiyama and two
or three others went to America but they were treated more like guests
of unusual interest. This time the party expects to cover from Los Angeles
to Vancouver, B.C. in wrestling shows and to come back richer.
The Wrestlers' Society gave a rousing farewell party
in Tokyo yesterday. All the wrestlers are very enthusiastic over the prospect
of seeing a new country, where the report of a fine welcome for the party
has been already received.
