The Japanese Wrestling Association is perhaps the oldest athletic institution in the world. Wrestling may be said to be the national sport of the mikado's empire, and tourneys of the grapplers were held in that country 2,500 years ago. The arena of the wrestling association in Tokyo is the scene of great contests twice every year, in January and June.
