Taft Likes Wrestling Game
CHICAGO, April 10. - William H. Taft, secretary of
the war, became a wrestling match promoter after reading the accounts of
the Gotch-Hackenschimdt bout. He became enthusiastic about wrestling and
announced that he knew a 400-pound Japanese whom he believed could become
the world's champion wrestler.
"I'd like to get this big Japanese wrestler over
here and set him at Mr. Gotch," said the secretary. "I believe he could
win the laurels that Gotch captured."
Secretary Taft showed himself an enthusiast in matter
of athletic sport as he discussed the Hackenschmidt-Gotch bout. He chose
to talk to interviewers about that rather than politics.
