Rear Admiral Grenfel Greets Our Wrestler.

A few days ago Rear Admiral Grenfel of the British Asiatic Squadron, visited the wrestling ring at Eko-in in company with some of our Naval officers including Rear Admiral Uchida, Commander of our Standing Squadron. Now it happened that above a decade ago the British Commander, then a junior officer, touched at Hakodate on board a British war-vessel, went ashore and had a look at the matches of Tokyo wrestlers which were being held there. During the performance the officer was much pleased with the extraordinarily developed form and great strength of one wrestler with whom he expressed his best wishes for the giant's future success in his profession, adding that he, the officer himself would make it a point of climbing up his own ladder by the time the other had got to the top of his.
That wrestler was none other than Taihoh himself now the foremost champion wrestler in Japan. His formerly big body, now almost colossal by the past ten year's training, could not but attract the attention of the British Commander who the instant he was told the name of the giant recalled the past incident at Hakodate to mind. There was an immediate interview between the old friends who shaking hands with their hearts full, indulged in mutual congratulation of each other's success.
