"Hamaminato" is a wrestler of Ekoin ring, who has the misfortune of not being known well by the public except in connection with the event that we note below. Last Sunday evening, he loitered into the Kumoi theatre, not to see the play, but to hear a Buddhist sermon, for it happened that a religious meeting was being held there and he is by the way a fanatical adherent of the Nichiren Sect. Now the bonze on the platform delivered an extremely anti-Nichiren disclosure inter-weaving into his sermon many attacks on the sect in question. This was more than the wrestler, who was somewhat the worse of liquor, could put up with. With the nimbleness of a rabbit he jumped up to the platform, and knocked down the bonze. Thereupon a crowd of men, who sided with the bonze, quite overwhelmed him with fisticuffs and kicks. The wrestler was packed out of the theatre and handed over to the Police on a charge of having disturbed a public meeting.
