Personal Notes.

The giant wrestler Manyemon Taiho will, it has been formally announced, assume the rank of "Yokozuna", the most honourable one a wrestler can occupy, in succession to Konishiki, who retired from that championship some time ago. It may not be out of place to say in this connection that such important appointments are made subject to the permission of the Yoshida family in Kumamoto, which has been from time immemorial invested with the highest authority in all matters appertaining to wrestling. The troupe of wrestlers including Taiho is now in Kumamoto and their presence there has been taken advantage of by the elder wrestlers for obtaining permission to confer the highest honour upon Taiho.
