The "Lion Dentifrice" At Eko-in.

The first day of the wrestling matches given by Mr. T. Kobayashi in celebration of the third anniversary of his invention of the popular tooth-powder, "Lion Dentifrice", came off very successfully at Eko-in yesterday. The best section of the galleries were reserved for the specially invited guests who numbered several hundreds, the rest of the available space being filled by several thousands of general spectators who obtained a whole day's entertainment by purchasing some thirty sens' worth of the "Lion Dentifrice". Specially noteworthy among the most exciting matches of the day, were those between Araiwa and Sakahoko, Hitachiyama and Umenotani, and Yashuzan and Ariaki. The first mentioned contest ended in a brilliant victory for Araiwa, though it is only justice to say that his antagonist, who, like him, is a skilled tactician, did exceeding well, especially in the first part of the struggle. The next match ended in a draw, but Hitachiyama seemed on the whole to be a better master of the situation, being always on the offensive. The most interesting and exciting of all was the hardly contested fight between Yashuzan and Ariaki. They are both the most hopeful of the rising wrestlers on their respective sides of the ring, and being known to be very nearly equally matched in physical power as well as in skill, their appearance in the arena was hailed by tremendous outbursts of cheers and applause. The contest was a long and exciting one, and it seemed as though it would end in a draw, when Yashuzan by a final and extraordinary effort, threw his antagonist out of the ring.
