The Ekoin Ring.

The exciting feature of the Ekoin ring commenced with yesterday's matches and will continue till tomorrow. Yesterday, the interest centred in the matches between Ara-iwa and Asashiwo, Hitachi and Ozutsu, and, we may mention, Umenotani and Genji. In the first Ara-iwa "tacked in" his antagonist and thus continues to be one of the proud few who have successfully won the day since the opening of the ring, which honour he shares with only two others, Hitachi and Umenotani. With his encounter with Ozutsu, Hitachi's ordeal commenced, and the match ended in a draw yesterday. Today, he is to be pitted against Umenotani, and tomorrow Araiwa, both of whom he will find highly trying to manage. Umenotani could easily dispose of Genji, whom he carried outside the ring. Araiwa's record of this season is astonishing all ring-goers. On the 7th day, that is Monday, he was suffering from a sprained hip-joint a legacy of the preceding day when he was training his juniors. He had the pain temporarily deadened by an injection, and faced his antagonist Inagawa, whom he dealt with splendidly. He and Ozutsu will find their respective partners today comparatively easy to grapple with.
